The best part about winter is wearing a ton of clothes you like … and covering up when one of them doesn’t fit right.

When this jacket popped up for sale I immediately decided to buy it. It’s from one of my favorite brands and is an interesting version of the oilcloth field coat. The problem is I immediately decided to buy it. I so completely talked myself into buying this that I didn’t even bother checking measurements, the thought never occurred to me that this could possibly not fit me. Fortunately it fits my fiancé and more importantly, she likes it.

Yesterday on my way to class I stopped by a thrift store that I generally leave empty handed. Going through the sport coats I felt something unbelievably soft. I can’t lie, these are moments when my thrifting addiction kicks in. My pulse raised when I saw the polo - made in Italy. Flipping open the content tag showed not only it was made by Corneliani with 100% cashmere, but also 38R - my size. It’s going to need some love to get the wrinkles out but I was too excited to not wear. This thing has all the bells and whistles - soft shoulders, throat latch, ticket pocket, flaps for every pocket, dual vents, pick stitching. Who the hell would donate this?
Big thanks to drivingincarswithpocketsquares for the mention! Check out countryandtown if you haven’t. It’s a great tumblr that nicely balances OOTD layouts and inspiration.
Over the last few months I’ve found that I have become more and more interested in the “casual” portion of the style spectrum, which I also believe to be the area of my own personal style that needs the most work.
Two of my favorite blogs from which I draw inspiration are Country and Town and Hot Whiskey. In addition to alerting me to sales from websites I’ve never heard of selling items I didn’t even know I had to have, they also reblog interesting takes on the more casual side of #menswear, as well as post photo compilations of their own OOTDs.
I highly recommend you check them out for some casual style inspiration.
Generally I enjoy winter, but by now I’m pretty sick of it. In Chicago the first signs of spring are finally here.
