Sartorial Doctrine: Menswear shopping in Tokyo,... →
sartorialdoctrine:
It’s been about a month since I returned from Tokyo, much due to my wonderful readers I was able to visit some great stores. So I thought it would be nice to write a post about the stores that I enjoyed the most. To summarize it you cannot visit Tokyo without going home with overfilled luggage. Tokyo is truly a sartorial paradise where you can find price worthy Japanese...

A conversation about area
So I was selling a scarf on eBay for a friend, and got into an interesting conversation.
eBay user: that would be 3 square feet!! LOL!!! Go slap your math teacher!!! LOL!!! I don't know about you but I don't know anyone who could even wear a 9 ft scarf. My bathroom is 9 square ft. LOL!!! have you been drinking!!! You have made my day!!! thanks!!!
Me: Yep, whoever taught me 3 x 3 = 9 really needs to get slapped. Congratulations on being on being a part of the United State's decline in education.
Lets go through this, one sq foot is 12 inches by 12 inches, or 144 inches sq. If the scarf was one foot by three feet, then yes, it would be 3 sq ft.
If you do have a 9 sq ft bathroom, I would consider relocating. A quick google check shows me the average us bathroom size is 35 sq ft, it'd be hard to do worse than what you have.
eBay user: 3 X 3 does equal nine, but it does not equal nine square feet!!! I also don't believe your scarf is nine feet by nine feet! But my bathroom off the kitchen, floor dimension is 9 ft. by 9 ft. which also dosen't equal 9 square ft. because the ceiling height is 12 ft. figure that one out!! Good luck!!! You'll need a calculator!!! Anyway your scarf is beautiful and I hope you get someone who appreciates that it's not actually a 9 foot scarf!!! LOL! You gave me a good laugh and mad my day!! Thanks!!!
Me: Oh man, ceiling height? Just in case you really are that clueless go to http://www.squarefootage.org and go ahead and plug in 3 x 3, and then 9 x 9.
I really hope you're joking and don't actually think volume has something to do with square footage.
eBay user: Square footage is basic high school Geometry, volume is EVERYTHING. I design architectural downtown multipule floor condos. Every inch counts!! If you didn't learn it in Geometry, Calculus, and college should have taught you better. You deserve a hugh refund on that college degree!! A square has four sides, I'll bet you think you need four measurmennts, to figure that out don't you!!! LOL!!
