I donāt have the luxury of walking into a retailer with the intention of purchasing a new wardrobe. Iāve been slowly upgrading on the cheap over the past few years with occasional splurges. By being patient, persistent and using varying methods Iāve been able to do this while paying off debts and building a healthy savings account.
This outfit was put together using the four best methods Iāve encountered.
1) ebay: Brunello Cucinelli sport coat. I keep an RSS feed (RIP google reader) for low āBuy It Nowsā for Cucinelli. This coat cost less than a JCP on sale.
2) Consignment stores: Michael Bastian sport shirt. If youāve been spending too much time on the Internet looking at #menswear chances are you know more about new brands than many consignment shop owners do. This was from a store that sells RLPL for $90+ and was simply marked, āshirt: $15ā
3) Marshallās / TJ Maxx: These Luciano Barbera trousers were originally some amount I canāt afford to spend on one pair of pants. They then went to Marshallās where they went from $200 all the way down to final mark down at $40.
4) thrift stores: Polo Ralph Lauren bluchers. I mostly just go to one thrift store on my commute after work, and by being persistent there Iāve been rewarded by getting high quality (Charvet, Band of Outsiders, Rag & Bone) at low prices. Itās taken a long time though.
So yeah, if youāre a few rungs down the ladder from Voxsart itās a good idea to switch up your methods.
Spring raincoat in the works. I’m finally getting around to waxing this United Arrows cotton trench with a paraffin / beeswax mixture. This is …. Much messier than I anticipated.
Iāve never owned a pair of loafers until now. Theyāre a type of shoe Iāve liked on others but for whatever reason when the perspective changes and I look down at my feet they seem quite ⦠dainty. Well, I found a pair of bench made English tassel loafers for $11.99 so Iām going to finally try loafers.
I just got my jeans back from the shop after blowing out the crotch. My state of confusion as to what to wear on the weekend while these were out of commission cannot be overstated.
